San Pablo Avenue Improvements Plan
The San Pablo Avenue (SPA) Corridor is the main commercial corridor in our neighborhood that has been underserved by the City. Although revitalization has been occurring since 2006, many storefronts remain empty, ittering and dumping are common, walking is unpleasant, and local businesses are struggling. It can feel unsafe for cyclists and pedestrians who want to use SPA to get around.
GGCA will work to improve these conditions along the Corridor. The framework for this work is outlined below. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to ggca.contact@goldengateca.org.
Build community through cleaning & tidying the Corridor
- Host weekly community clean ups along San Pablo Ave, prioritizing blocks with businesses.
- Maintain landscaping and cleanliness around Robert Mason Fields to make it a safe and enjoyable place for little leaguers and community members.
- Improve maintenance of street trash cans and increase trash pick ups.
Improve pedestrian experience
- Advocate for pedestrian safety improvements along San Pablo Avenue crosswalks, including lighting and speed reducing quick builds.
- Improve street aesthetics by improving lighting, median landscaping, and pavement quality.
- Identify locations for new public art and pursue grant funding to for its installation.
Increase economic vibrancy
- Host events and activities directly along San Pablo Ave.
- Identify vacant spaces along the corridor and work to activate them.
- Connect with GGCA and other neighbors with the Siddha Yoga Ashram, to identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Promote local businesses through social media, the GGCA newsletter, and organized small business events.
- Connect neighbors and visitors with local businesses, public spaces and history.
